Others, such as counselors, educators and researchers are working in educational environments, like in elementary or secondary schools. Some works for the government in locals or office. The others psychologist's works at hospital.

If you want to become a psychologist, you are going to need a doctoral degree. You can obtain that by completing a research degree in Psychology (Ph.D.) or a Doctor of psychology degree (Psy.D.) You need to take a comprehensive exam and write a dissertation which would be based on your original research if you want a Ph.D. You usually need to do a 1-year internship in your doctoral program if you want a Psy.D, which is a clinical degree.

As a psychologist, there is always a possibility to be confronted of patients violence, such being as threatened, harassed, attacked or even attacked by a patient that has a weapon. Another danger is the isolation in practice, that can be a stress for a psychologist. There is also the fact that since the psychologist has to concentrate on the emotional problems of his patients, they often repulse their own emotion. That can cause them to become emotionally drained and even to burnout.

There's not a lot many chances that psychologist's get replaced by robots since this is an almost completely social job. Maybe robots could help and replace research psychologist, but they couldn't replace psychologist that are doing consultation. It takes a lot of qualities, such as patience, trustworthiness, communication and others, that can't be surpassed by a robot.


What age do psychologists retire at?

60-65 is the normal retirement age in almost all the country.

In conclusion, psychology is an extremely fascinating for someone who's passionate and who's ready to dedicate many years on their study. Personally, I look forward to doing my doctoral degree and an internship in this field. I believe I got the most important qualities to success as a psychologist, such as communication skills and analytical skills. By this research, I learned that the job outlook for this field looks excellent, with a projected grow of 14% form 2018 to 2028. This is reassuring.
